Serving Communities

There are many groups of people who are actively involved in building community life and improving the quality of life for those who live there, for example Local Authorities and those who represent the local areas, Residents’ Associations, and voluntary groups, as well as active individuals who may run Neighbourhood Watch or get involved in litter picking. The local church is just one of part of this network of caring people. We are always keen to build bridges with other individuals and groups who care about how we live together and care for each other. Please get in touch with us if you think we can work together in partnership.

There are so many issues that we are aware of each day that cause us to feel concerned for others and there is only so much that each of us can do.

In our communities there are a number of issues that we are keen to do something about. For example:

Loneliness and isolation

This can be a big issue for old and for young people. We offer opportunities for people to meet socially and a wide range of interesting activities for anyone to get together and to enjoy each other’s company.

Health and Wellbeing

There is a growing concern especially for the mental wellbeing of all ages. We work with others to support those who suffer from dementia and their carers as well as supporting those who suffer from loss and grief. We value the importance of listening.

Young People

There are many families living in the Parish and we are keen to support play groups, local nurseries and schools as well as show the young people in our community that we care about them and appreciate the pressures that they are under. The Christian story can offer helpful guidance for life as we grow up. The values we live by offer a more healthy basis for judging our sense of self-worth.

Building Caring Communities

There are many new housing developments all across the Parish of Christ the King and we are keen to work with people locally to help to foster a strong sense of community life and health. The Ark in the Park is such a project.
