Your Parish

Every square yard of England is part of a Parish. The Church of England Parish Church exists for the benefits of the whole community whether they express any Christian faith or not. It was William Temple, one-time Archbishop of Canterbury, who once stated that “the Church of England exists for the benefit of its non-members.”

Parish churches have been serving the communities where they are set for hundreds of years and have invariably been at the heart of creating and supporting community life. Parish church buildings are often important meeting places in the local community for all sorts of activities and special occasions in the life of the community. Parish churches can also be a place of peace and sanctuary in a busy world.

When you live within a parish you have the legal right to have your children baptised, to get married and to have your loved one’s funeral in your local Church of England Parish Church. Each of our churches would be happy to help – just get in touch.

Local Church of England churches seek to work closely with other Christian denominations in their parish. In this parish the Roman Catholic Church of the Sacred Heart and St John’s United Reformed Church are our partners in sharing the Christian message in our communities.
